It’s hot, your landscape is thirsty! The question is, do you water a little every day? Take the time to understand your landscape needs and visit bewaterwise.com for helpful information. For money savings tips, don’t water to the point of run off, water slopes and hard soil’s frequently with shorter times. By pushing a soil probe or small garden trowel into the soil, you can determine if the soil is compact, how deep the roots are, and if you are over watering. Deep watering will induce the plants roots to grow deeper, where they are less likely to dry out. Light, surface watering actually wastes water, because the water never actually reaches the root zone of the plant, and the moisture rapidly evaporates from the top inch of soil. Another quick test is to walk on your grass, if the grass blades bounce back up it is a good indication that you do not need to water. ** The key is to water after 1:00am and before 6:00am with multiple start times. |
